Your jewellery is made of brass or sterling silver (excluding the specified Fine Jewellery pieces), which has a surface treatment of 22K gold, 22K rose gold, and sterling silver (if has a brass base). This surface treatment will fade over time because of contact with clothes, hard surfaces, sweat, perfume, hairspray, air pollution and others.
The oxidised silver layer fades with everyday and very frequent wear. The gold plating is 2-3 microns of 24 carat gold that gradually wears off, giving the appearance that it has faded. Everyday or very frequent wear, may speed up this process, especially on items like rings, pendants and bracelets, which have more frequent contact with surfaces. We offer re-plating services at a low fee.
Avoid direct contact with water and chemical products e.g. soap, perfume, abrasive products. Do not wear jewellery when in the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna/steam room or while bathing or showering. Chlorine, detergents, oils & perfumes can all cause tarnishing and damage. Remove jewelry when doing households tasks. Avoid impact with hard surfaces as much as possible.
When not in use keep your piece in the velvet pouch provided for protection. Make-up, perfume & hairspray all contain chemicals which may dull the finish of your jewelry. Gently wipe jewellery with a soft cloth after each wear to remove make up and oils (from skin). Coil chains gently to prevent damage in storage. Don't yank or pull chains.
You should treat your jewelry like any other wardrobe item. Clothes and shoes must be maintained e.g. washed, new soles, cleaned, repaired, etc. The same goes for jewellery. The gold plating must get a new gold layer on when needed, and it is advised to check locks and clasps firmness.
