6 TRENDS FOR TRANSITIONAL DRESSING

Now that we are officially in Autumn, it's time to accept that we must banish our crochet and linen in favour for some more cosy, luxurious looks. To help you through this comedown from summer, we have 6 gorgeous trends to get you in the mood...

1. Ruffles

The new silhouette to embrace. The trick to pulling off ruffles, make the ruffle the focal point of your outfit. and make sure it’s either dramatic and structured (as seen on Balmain SS16 runway below), or romantic, feminine and soft (as seen on Selena Gomez below in Giambattista Valli). If they're snaking around your neck or cascading down your shoulder, pull your hair back in a sleek style so it doesn't interfere.

Wear with our hamsa rings to offset the overly girly look with some sleek metal.

2. Pyjama Look

This a trend are carry through from Summer. It's all about comfort, fluidity, but the silk material keeps it chic - if it's a little chilly you can still wear this look just layer, layer, layer... as well as layering your clothing, layer you jewels. Layering is the most effective way to transition your pieces from season to season and day to night. Add different lengths and a mix of materials from leather details a la Burberry SS17 show that everyone was talking about (as seen in image below). Add warm tones for that Autumn feeling, as Jaime King has done with her burgundy set (pictured below).

Wear with our Nakai or Arabella earrings and heels to dress up the look. (You don't want to look like you're actually going to bed)

3. Patent Leather

We are into the gloss!! Your key to making any outfit sexy, add the gloss. The trick with patent leather is to keep everything else paired down, as seen on Jessica Chastain below in Chanel (image below) who blamces this mix perfectly. Patent leather was one of AW16/17 biggest trends, worn with softer fabrics fluid shapes, such as this nude patent jacket look as seen on Proenza Schouler show AW16.

The one thing every party girl will need in her wardrobe for this season? Patent leather trousers—and the glossier, the better. The great thing about this trend = rainproof!!

Wear with something more dainty like our Danielle Rose Thorn Choker or bangle.

4. Velvet

Master ladylike luxe this season in plush velvet. Wear a velvet cami with jeans for a stylish day look, or a velvet blazer over a glamorous dress for a sophisticated evening look. Feeling daring? Pair velvet with velvet by adding a pair of luxury velvet boots. Or go for a bold colour as Kylie Jenner has pictured below.

Wear the season’s key fabric crushed, coloured or top-to-toe (as seen on below on the Akris AW16 show), anything goes.

Wear with cool metal tones for contrast, such as our silver Adelle bracelet, or Adriana ring in silver and Howlite.

5. Capes/caplets

Makes for the perfect item when you need an extra layer, great to throw over your leather jacket and adds a touch of glamour. The silhouettes vary in design and plenty of choice for different occasions. Evening wear, as on Jennifer Lopez pictured below. Or go for a more utilitarian look as on the Mulberry AW16 show (also pictured below).

Wear with our Bella ear jacket and keep the chest area clear to avoid looking messy.

6. Pearls

There's a real feel for luxury as we are transitioning into fall, and pearls are back like you've never seen before. This winter sees a return to its Parisian roots, albeit with a vintage twist, as if it’s been borrowed and paired with denim patches (as seen on Taylor Hill below for Miu Miu AW16), military jackets and the sports sweaters that are so very now and not remotely conservative, stripping that cliche feel.

Wear our one or two of Nicole pearl chokers with a chunky denim jacket, or large retro jumper.
