10 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS THAT YOU CAN STICK TO

As we say goodbye to the last decade (gasps) and hello again to the 20s it's time to start afresh and start setting yourself goals to achieve in the new year.

There's no denying that setting goals is easier than sticking to them, that's why we're here to help. It's said that it takes approximately 66 days (or around 2 months) for behaviours to become a natural habit so it's easier to start small and manageable than to crash and burn.

We've rounded up 10 easy resolutions that you'll actually want to stick to.

1. Ditch Single Use Plastic

Single-use plastic is sooo last year. With single use plastic being one of the worst causes of sea pollution, this year try switching to a reusable cup or water bottle, material makeup removal pads or reusable shopper bags.

2. 10 Minute Daily Meditation

Don't knock it until you've tried it! There is a reason why those who meditate talk about it all the time. Start by trying a short 10 minute YouTube tutorial on meditation daily to help relieve stress and escape from any day to day worries. This will work wonders for your mind and body.

3. Drink More Water

When was the last time you drank water today? If you had to think about it you're not drinking enough! Keeping hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your body. Aim for 2 litres a day and keep to your goal by infusing some of your favourite fruits.

4. Cook One New Thing A Week

Trying to be healthier in the New Year? A great start is by getting diverse with your home cooking. Aim to explore at least once a week with new flavours and cultures. This is a great way to try incorporating new fruits and vegetables into your diet, whether you want to try meat-free Mondays, or try out a whole new cuisine keep things exciting in the kitchen this year.

5. Drink Less Alcohol

We know, this is one we all try and hopelessly fail. Flashback to day 12 of dry January when your friend decides to host a cocktail party, disaster. However this year, instead of going cold turkey try slowing down or swapping to an alcohol free version of your favourite beverage. Did you know alcohol free gin is a thing? We know you don't need alcohol to have fun!

6. Book a Holiday

It's easy to let life and routine take over and before you know it you have no time in your busy schedule to even possibly think about a week off. Look into holidays and make your booking early on to give you something to look forward to during the year and most importantly give yourself time to refuel.

7. Take The Stairs

Up your daily step count by avoiding escalators and lifts and taking the stairs. When taking the tube, avoid crowds and get your heart racing by taking the stairs, we promise you'll feel good about it after!

8. Listen To A Podcast

Try listening to a podcast during your daily commute or workout instead of the same music on your downloaded playlist. This can be a great way to brighten your day, or learn something new if you try an educational podcast.

9. Take a Social Break

Try checking your phone a little less this year. Although we know for most, using our phone is essential, it feels good and works wonders to take a break from your online life once in a while. Start easy by keeping your phone on the other side of the room when you're sleeping, no waking up in the night to mindlessly scroll through your Instagram feed.

10. Buy New Workout Gear

Buying some workout clothing that makes you feel and look good can do wonders for your confidence and also increase how much time you spend in the gym. You'll want to wear them for your daily errands too!
